Fragrant Essential Oils

woman smelling everyday oils Exquisite fragrances and scents are among the many pleasures of high-quality essential oils. But truly high-quality oils go far beyond fragrance alone. In addition to scent, they have physical, emotional and/or spiritual effects on our bodies and energy field. This is what makes them great.

I've made a list of some of my favorite fragrant essential oils. It is not inclusive, by any means, as there are many more wonderfully fragrant oils. But I had to draw the line somewhere or this list would be miles long.

Please understand that fragrance, like everything else, is subjective. What smells divine to one person may be quite dissagreable to another. And an oil that smells simply wretched today, may smell lovely a couple of years later. Its where we are at that time and place, how toxic we are or what stage of emotional/spiritual development we are that determines how we react to the oil.

That adds to the difficulty of creating a list of fragrant oils. Nonetheless, these are the oils I have been drawn to repeatedly over the years. Many, I wouldn't want to live without.

Some of these oils, I love for their extraordinary fragrance. Others not only for their divine scent, but for their effect. All these oils are exceptional - its difficult to put one above others.

List of Fragrant Essential Oils:

lavender essential oil

  • Lavender Essential Oil — The most universally loved essential oil. Young Living's lavender oil is not just any lavender. The high-quality of Young Living's lavender oil provides a most wonderfully disarming bouquet and depth of complexity.

  • Calming, refreshing, cleansing, balancing, nourishing; lavender has too many different applications to list here. Just to smell it is pure luxury — pure heaven.

If you like lavender, why not also enjoy it in the Lavender Signature Series.

    sandalwood essential oil
  • Sandalwood Essential Oil — This deeply complex, wood scent is amazingly calming, satisfying and pleasing. Perhaps it is because, like frankincense oil, sandalwood supports nerves and circulation - even a whiff instantly improves my outlook on life and mellows my mood.

  • I wonder if it could do the same for you?

    white-angelica essential oil
  • White Angelica Essential Oil Blend — The best way to describe Angelica is by saying it is simply divine. This is the oil of protection and strengthening the aura.

  • This combination of oils was used during ancient times to increase the aura around the body, bringing a delicate sense of strength and protection while creating a feeling of wholeness in the realm of one's own spirituality. Its frequency protects against the bombardment of negative energy.

Diffuse it, or wear it on top of the shoulders, along the spine, on the crown of the head, wrists, behind your ears and on the back of the neck. It's also excellent to soak in when taking a relaxing bath (mix with bath salts first).

    abundance essential oil
  • Abundance Essential Oil Blend — This is a very special oil that attracts abundance! This fragrance activates the "Law of Attraction."

  • The Abundance blend was created to enhance the frequency of the invisible energy field that surrounds us through the electrical stimulation of the somatides. Somatides transmit the frequency from the cells to the outside of the body — when they are stimulated through fragrance and the thought process.

When you wear or smell Abundance essential oil, you are more likely to attract both physical and emotional abundance... and smell great!

    cedarwood essential oil

  • Cedarwood Essential Oil — A deep, complex fragrance, cedarwood is recognized for its calming, purifying properties. This highly spiritual oil was used by the ancient Egyptians for many purposes. The wood is mentioned in the Bible numerous times.

  • It's powerful applied on the head, as it was worn in ancient Egyptian and Biblical days, away from the eyes of other mucous membranes.

    peppermint essential oil

  • Peppermint Essential Oil — Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has a strong, clean, fresh, minty aroma. One of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion, its also fabulous for flavoring tea, candy, and anything minty.

  • Peppermint is wonderful for scenting tea, and flavoring foods and drinks. And it feels great on upset stomachs or sore muscles, as well — although I wouldn't wear it as a perfume.

    purification essential oil

  • Purification Essential Oil Blend — This formula, based on citronella, lemongrass and lavandin (plus others) is so pleasing, I have never met a person who didn't love it. Although it is an antiseptic blend, it's delightful scent is far from any antiseptic you'd buy at a drugstore. It's scent is closer to a perfume than an antiseptic.

  • Purification Essential Oil Blend is fantastic diffused — it helps cleanse the air (even from cigarette smoke), neutralize mildew and any other disagreeable odors. It can be used to cleanse cuts and scrapes and helps neutralize the poison of insect bites, such as spiders, bees, hornets, wasps, scorpions, and rattlesnakes. It's also a great—smelling insect repellant — just put on cotton balls in air vents or near you.

    dreamcatcher essential oil

  • Dreamcatcher Essential Oil Blend — Is it just the fragrance? Or is it the power of this oil to open the mind and enhance dreams and visualization, promoting greather potential for realizing our dreams and staying on your path?

  • This exotic formula and divine fragrance smells like ambrosia and sends me into a sweet, blissful state of mind.

into the future essential oil Into the Future Essential Oil Blend — The deep, complex blend of the fragrances of frankincense, jasmine, cedarwood, ylang ylang, blended with orange and other oils stimulates feeling of confidence, rejuvenation and possibility.

Into the Future helps one leave the past behind in order to go forward with vision and excitement. When you find yourself settling for mediocrity and sacrificing your own potential and success because of fear of the unknown and the future, bring out "Into the Future." Wear it, smell it and allow determination and a pioneering spirit to come through. It will help you move forward.

    brain power essential oil

  • Brain Power Essential Oil Blend — I love oils that are high in sesquiterpenes. Maybe its because sesquiterpenes increase oxygen around receptor sites in the pineal, pituitary and hypothalamus. Plus, they play a major role in dissolving petrochemicals known to plug the receptor sites and prevent receptivity. I can certainly use all that.

  • Another thing about Brain Power, it helps clear brain fog from the ingestion of chemicals in food, skin and hair care products with petrochemicals and in air pollution and helps you focus. Just what I need!

Did I mention it smells divine?

    autralian blue essential oil

  • Australian Blue Essential Oil Blend — A powerful aromatic essence that uplifts and inspires. The complex blend of blue cypress, ylang ylang, cedarwood, blue tansy and white fir are unmatched. Simply fabulous!

  • peace & calming oil
  • Peace and Calming Essential Oil Blend — This gentle, fragrant blend is specially designed for diffusing. It promotes relaxation and a deep sense of peace, helping to calm tensions and uplift spirits. It is especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day. It's a wonderful scent to fill the house with!

  • valor essential oil

  • Valor — When you need courage and strength, use Valor. This highly pleasing fragrance helps balance electrical energies within the body — giving you courage, confidence and self-esteem. It has been found to help the body self-correct it's balance and alignment.

  • valor-rollon essential oil

This is a fantastic oil to apply (especially to the bottoms of the feet) before a public appearance, such as a speech, presentation or performance.

And now, you can get Valor in a convenient, take-anywhere roll-on applicator!

    cinnamon bark essential oil

  • Cinnamon Bark — For being such a powerfully antimicrobial and antibacterial oil, cinnamon bark has a surprisingly sweet, delightful fragrance. What's even more surprising is that it tastes sweet and delicious as well!

  • I find the scent similar to sweet almond, but sweeter — and, of course, more cinnamon—like. It's too hot to wear as a fragrance, but I love to open the bottle and catch a whiff!

    thieves essential oil

  • Thieves — Always a favorite, the delicious blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon and rosemary is warm, spicy, and nice. I love to diffuse it so the whole house smells inviting!

  • Do be careful when diffusing Thieves, however. Being a "hot" oil, it's best to leave the diffuser on for only five or ten minutes every hour.

    lavender oil

  • Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend — There is no match for this superb blend of evergreens and spices for the holidays. Smelling it brings feelings of joy, happiness and security. Diffused throughout the house, it adds immeasurable Christmas cheer for the season. Great off season as well.

Oils With Citrus Notes:

  • Lemon Essential Oil — Lemon is such a basic oil, it may hardly seem significant enough to list here. Yet, Young Living's lemon oil is so refreshing, so invigorating that it defies description. It hits the nose with such exuberance that music starts playing in my mind.

  • lemon oil

Lemon oil is the essence of yellow… of the sun… of life. It promotes clarity of thought and purpose, as well as health, healing, physical energy and purification. The fragrance is invigorating, warming and enhancing.

Lemon oil is wonderful anywhere — in a potpourri, spritzed in the air to deodorize and sterilize, diffused, added in a bowl as an insect repellent or rubbed on furniture to clean and polish (how wonderful the house smells after polishing).

Add some lemon to your life today!

    orange oil

  • Orange Essential Oil — Delightful! This essential oil has a rich, fruity, true "orange" scent that lifts the spirit while providing a calming influence on the body. Orange brings peace and happiness to the mind. It is rich in the powerful antioxidant d-limonene and aids in maintaining normal cellular regeneration.* Orange may also be used to enhance the flavor of food and water.

  • bergamot oil

  • Bergamot Essential Oil — An exotic citrus scent used for hundreds of years in the Middle East, the bergamot fruit is becoming all the rage once more. A lovely fragrance to add flavor to your cooking or lift your mood.
