Their ability to secrete insulin and to respond to insulin both decreased by about 30 percent. A similar decrease in acute insulin response is an early marker of diabetes.”1

But that only leads to poor performance and serious health problems down the line. It’s clear that getting adequate amounts of sleep is critical to good health.

While some people simply can’t sleep from insomnia, many people cut back on sleep because of stress and busy schedules. Other reasons people can’t sleep are anxiety, feeling pressured over time, digestive problems, consuming caffeine, alcohol, sweets or carbohydrates before bedtime.

The digestive process can upset sleep. It’s best to sleep on an empty stomach, or at least a relatively empty stomach. If you must snack, have vegetables or light fruits only.
