SclarEssence™ essential oil blend supports normal glandular/ hormonal functions in women naturally using essential oil phytoestrogens.* It helps balance female hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone.*

SclarEssence™ combines the soothing effects of peppermint with the balancing power of fennel and clary sage along with the gentle, calming action of sage lavender for an extraordinary dietary supplement.

SclarEssence™ Ingredients:

Sclaressence Essential Oil Blend For WomenClary sage (Salvia sclarea) essential oil – supports and balances the hormones. It contains natural sclareol, a phytoestrogen that mimics estrogen function. It is relaxing and helps with menstrual cramps, PMS, menopause and circulatory problems. Peppermint (Mentha piperita) essential oil – is anti-inflammatory and helps with menstrual irregularity. It also strengthens the liver and glandular function. Sage Lavender (Salvia lavandulifolia) essential oil – is high in limonene, which prevents DNA damage. Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) essential oil – stimulates estrogen production and balances hormones and menstrual cycles. Being antispasmodic, it may provide relieve from cramps. It has been used for centuries with menopausal and pre-menopausal issues. It is also antiseptic and stimulating to the gastrointenstinal system.

Here’s Christa’s experience with menstral cramps:

I consider myself to have normal periods with normal cramping, lasting for about the first day or so. I usually take an Advil (bad me, I know) to get rid of the cramp pain because it can sometimes wake me up at night it’s so painful! Well, this month I decided to try something different. From the onset of spotting, I started applying 3 drops of SclarEssence every few hours to my lower abdomen. Then using rose ointment over top of the oils. To my absolute amazement, I didn’t take any Advil! WOW! The cramps stayed at a level 1 or 2 (0 being no pain and 10 being unbearable) as apposed to a 7 or 8 in the past without Advil.

And here’s what it did for Rebecca’s hot flashes:

I began ingesting SclarEssence essential oil blend (per the directions in the Essential Oils Desk Reference) on October 19. My purpose was to alleviate menopause symptoms – hot flashes, restlessness, insomnia, etc. I ingested ten drops in a capsule once that day. I had NO hot flashes for the next 24 hours – I was accustomed to 7-10 severe hot flashes per day, including through the night that would wake me several times and then I would have trouble falling back to sleep. The next day, Oct. 20th, I ingested 8 drops in a capsule once during the day. I experienced the bare beginnings of a hot flash but it never transpired. Oct. 21, I went back to the 10 drops in a capsule to ingest. No hot flashes or any other symptoms. I also experienced immediate improvement in my quality of sleep. Gentle Baby, Valor, and other oils helped, but hot flashes in the night wake you no matter what! I had forgotten how wonderful it feels to wake up refreshed and rested. I remember now, it’s wonderful! – Rebecca R.

How to use: Put 1 – 2 drops in an 00 vegi capsule. Ingest 1 capsule daily as needed. Do not use if using any other hormone products.

Sclaressence Essential Oil Blend For Women — 10 Comments

  1. If you have become pregnant using Sclaressence how long should you continue using the oil after you have become pregnant?
    Many thanks!

  2. Lisa,

First, I have to tell you to consult with your doctor. That said, certain oils should be stayed away from or used with caution when you become pregnant. These oils are sage, wild tansy, Clary sage, and fennel.

Sclaressence contains clary sage and fennel, so it’s on the list of oils to stay away from or use with caution during pregnancy.

You should also avoid large amounts, or regular use of, cypress and basil (use them with caution during pregnancy).

Again, since pregnancy is considered a medical condition, I must tell you to see your doctor.

  3. Since Im taking a very low dose of Synthroid (0.05) would I be a good candidate for Scaleressence? Plus I had breast cancer in 2005 with a positive hormone receptor of progeston and estrogen- Im not sure of the phytoestrogens in the product…. I asked my MD and he said he is not too much into natural supplements.

  4. Rose,

I can’t really say since I’m not a doctor. It is not surprising that your doctor is not into natural supplements. Medical doctors are doctors of ‘medicine’ so they essentially study and practice how to diagnose and prescribe medications. But is always disappointing when you can’t get the advice you need from your doctor.

The phytoestrogens in these oils are generally balanced and helpful to the body. They are not hormones. Many women take them to prevent cancer. You’ll have to decide for yourself if it feels right for you to try SclarEssence. Many times, trying it is the only way to find out.

Many women like using Progessence Plus Serum – a bioidentical micronized progesterone in a serum, rather than a cream form.

  5. Thank you for your advise.

I would also like to mention to you and your readers, that I have just started using YL oils more seriously and Im beginning to enjoy it. Recently, I have been going through a lot of back pain due to a degenerated disc (which I just found out). I have been using valor, peppermint and deep relief in addition to Chiropractic care (tracking of spine). Above treatment has been on for the last 2 weeks and I have not taken any painkillers as yet (prescription). Im still in mild pain which is much better than the last 2 weeks. Once I get better, I will let you know exactly what helped.

  6. Thanks, Rose. I will be looking forward to hearing what helped. I also have degenerated and herniated disc. I love using the Deep Relief roll-on for it. It feels so good and helps a lot. Ocotea and copaiba are also great for bone and muscle issues.

Something I learned in physical therapy to help the back is to sit, get up, walk and bend down using the butt muscles (gluteus maximus) instead of the leg muscles. In the past, they used to teach us to use the leg muscles, but now its all about the gluts. It helps a lot. I used to “plop” down in my chair because I wasn’t using my gluts, and that is very harmful to the back. Now, I bend more and tighten my gluts to sit down and get up. Much less stress on the back.

  7. Does anyone know if it’s safe to take SclarEssence™ essential oil blend while on the NuvaRing? The NuvaRing contains hormones. My Dr. prescribed it for me a few months ago before I found these oils.

  8. Missy,

SclarEssence™ is a blend of essential oils. It does not contain any hormones. It helps balance female hormones, but doesn’t add any to your system.

There normally isn’t a problem with taking essential oils with hormones, but everyone is different and may react differently.

We do have a bioidentical micronized progesterone product in liquid form combined with essential oils which has bioidentical hormones in it called Progessence Plus. It is similar to progesterone creams, but the progesterone in it go directly into your bloodstream, rather than your fatty tissue. You can find more information about it on the Progesterone Serum website.

  9. I am 21. I have PCOS and my menstrual circle is about 40 days. I really want to try essential oil blends to help regulate my menstrual circle, but I found there were Dragon time, Endoflex, mister and Sclaressence. I am not sure which one fits my need best.

  10. Jude,

Have you heard of Progessence Plus? Many doctors and researchers believe that low progesterone levels cause PCOS. Progessence Plus contains micronized progesterone which helps support healthy progesterone levels and functions in the body. You can read more about it on Progesteroneserum.com

One or more of the oils you mentioned (Dragon time, Endoflex, and Sclaressence) may also help (probably not mister as its for men), my guess is that Dragon time and Sclaressence may be the most help, but because every woman’s hormonal balance and issues are different, it’s individual – a trial and error kind of thing. You may want to start with the Progessence Plus and then add one of the others or vice versa. Most of the time, something like PCOS is going to take more than one product, vs just having PMS.

Also, PCOS usually means there are many small cysts around the ovaries. I found that Longevity oil rubbed over the ovaries was very helpful to me in resolving that. In fact, my PCOS once developed into a full-out ovarian cyst and when I used Longevity oil, it went away completely. It was miraculous! I also swallowed longevity caps for a short while.
