Young Living Essential Oils Used in Kent State Nursing Program
SALT LAKE CITY—April 10, 2012—Young Living essential oils play a key role in an exciting new partnership between Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Foundation, the Kent State College of Nursing, the Nursing Self-Care Consortium Schools of Cleveland State University, and the Ursuline College Breen School of Nursing. Urban Zen faculty members are training the schools’ nursing students in integrative therapy modalities, which include essential oils, as part of the “Care for the Caregiver” program.
Essential oil therapy is a vital component of Urban Zen’s Integrative Therapy (UZIT) Program, along with therapeutic yoga, Reiki, nutritional instruction, and contemplative care. UZIT is designed to complement traditional medical techniques and offers substantial benefits to both the recipient and the caregiver. Pure Young Living essential oils such as lavender and peppermint are used topically and in an aromatherapeutic manner in UZIT.
Young Living recently made a large donation of essential oils to the college. Kent State and the Nursing Self-Care Consortium nursing students have been enthusiastic and receptive to the integration of essential oils in their training, and the college plans to continue to use Young Living oils as part of its ongoing student curriculum.
”Overall, I believe the use of Young Living essential oils has helped our students become more open to the different UZIT modalities,” says Tracey Motter, director of Kent State’s undergraduate BSN programs. “I’ve also noticed that the oils have benefited our students by helping them to decrease their stress levels and cope with the high-paced curriculum.”
