Diabetes Drug Avandia Pulled – Its About Time

avandiaAvandia, a popular diabetes drug, is about to be taken off the retail market shelves. Turns out it causes cardiovascular risks that can't be ignored. (In in 2000, the previous diabetes drug, Rezulin, was withdrawn from the market because it caused serious liver damage in some patients).

The question is, why did it take them so long to act? Could it be because worldwide sales of Avandia exceeded $3 billion last year, making it one of Glaxo’s top-selling drugs?

Recently surfaced reports found on the F.D.A.’s database show that a leading diabetes doctor warned the Food and Drug Administration about the heart risks of Avandia seven years ago. In fact, the F.D.A. reprimanded Avandia's makers for minimizing safety concerns six years ago.

Harvard professor, Dr. Jerome L. Avorn pointed out, “there were signals of a very dangerous side effect that were ignored,” he said. “Then massive marketing created a tremendous uptake of the drug.”

Avandia will still be available by prescription to "those who have had no success in controlling their blood sugar with other diabetes medications or patients who have been informed of the risks and still choose to take Avandia (rosiglitazone)."

(Right there its telling us that diabetes medications aren't that successful.) But back to Avandia…

A 2007 study found that "People with type 2 diabetes who took the drug had a 40 percent increase in heart attack risk. That increase in risk was supported in subsequent trials."

That is a HUGE percentage! Why would any diabetic want to take such a risk when risk-free methods of dealing with diabetes are easily available?

It always surprises me how many people prefer to resort to drugs when they can make huge improvements by natural means. Popping a pill is the easy way out, I suppose, but the results of taking medication can be deadly.

We all know that the majority of type 2 diabetes cases are caused by consistently poor dietary choices. If people ate more carefully, or at least adopted better eating habits once they found out they were at risk for diabetes, it could be controlled or avoided altogether.

In addition, many natural methods of improving diabetes have been studied, are now known, written about and available. I have written about cinnamon studies and diabetes on more than one occasion. Coriander is also very effective and so is Ningxia Red juice and ocotea oil.

The Essential Oil Desk Reference lists daily use of Thieves (contains cinnamon), Coriander, Fennel and Dill. One woman from Oklahoma decided to try it. She mixed equal amounts of Thieves, Coriander, Fennel and Dill massaging this blend on the pancreas Vita Flex points of the left foot 2-4 times daily, and applying a warm compress of the blend over the pancreas area to her daily routine of oils and Ningxia Red. Her average blood sugar reading dropped another 10 points.

One woman from Utah completely recovered from type 2 diabetes by applying Thieves on her feet in morning – 4 drops on the bottom of each foot. Also applying Coriander on her chest, Cinnamon on her stomach with Cyprus and Australian Blue on her neck at night or late afternoon. She used between 2 and 4 drops of each oil depending on her blood sugar levels and stress levels that day, on an empty stomach. She has a stressful life has found that Australian Blue is tremendously helpful for her in dealing with stress.

NingXia Red Antioxidant Drink

NingXia Red Antioxidant Drink

Ningxia Red juice is helping many people overcome their diabetes. Some people take 1 oz two or three times a day, and some take 2 ounces 3 times daily along with oils.

One woman started drinking 2 ounces NingXia 3 times daily, plus oils. After this, her A1C test (a 3 month glucose average) test read 6.3 (normal reference range is 4.3-6.1). The doctor said her blood sugar was averaging around 130 mg/dl. She is thrilled to say the least!

I love this story of NingXia Red from Annette:

"I recently visited a friend who is insulin dependent. She is starting on NingXia Red and some oils but really wants them to prove themselves. So this is what we did. We tested her bloodsugar. This was at about 9am, before her first shot (of NXR). She then drank a shot of NXR and I applied Thieves and Fennel to the bottoms of her feet (about 2-3 drops). Then we waited for FIVE MINUTES and we tested her bloodsugar again. The look on her face was priceless – her blood sugar dropped 40 POINTS. I wish I had dill and corriander – wonder what it would have dropped to if I had used them too!"

The above accounts can be found on www.oil-testimonials.com – just search for diabetes.

This article, Diabetes And Low-Glycemic Foods has an interesting video that discusses NingXia Red and blood sugar, the glycemic index in general, the glycemic impact of wolfberry and how it can help people with diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular issues.

No diabetic should have to risk a heart attack to feel better. There are many effective natural solutions to diabetes that are healthy and risk-free.
