Palo Santo, Osteoporosis and RSD
I knew that Palo Santo essential oil is great for bone regeneration, but I didn't know it helps osteoporosis and bone mineral density (BMD). As everyone knows, osteoporosis leads to an increased risk of fracture. Until recently, I wasn't aware how much Palo Santo essential oil can help it.
Recently a friend with osteoporosis in her spine and pelvis told me she had broken her wrist seven years ago and it did not heal right. Because of that, she developed RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy). She started applying Palo Santo on it daily, and as an afterthought, on her spine and pelvis as well.
When she applied Palo Santo to her wrist it felt good, as if the bones were finally healing. Indeed they were – her wrist gradually improved and kept getting better.
Three months later, she was given a bone density scan. The scan showed a 2.5% improvement in spinal bone density and a 3.3% improvement in her left femur. This is significant improvement and her doctor was amazed.

What is the ingredients in Palo Santo?
Essential Oil Diva @ 9:12 pm
Anna,
Palo Santo is an essential oil single, meaning it is not blended with any other oil. The bottle only contains oil that comes from the wood of the aromatic Palo Santo tree in South America. It's botanical name is bursera graveolens and it is closely related to frankincense.
Palo Santo oil contains high levels of limonene, a monoterpene compound that has been found to have chemo-preventive and chemo-therapeutic effects against several types of cancer. It is also rich in sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes and alpha-pinene.
This is probably why it has been used in South America for so long as an antiseptic, to help with healing wounds, sprains and other injuries, clear negative energy and bring good fortune.

I had RSD would oil help with the pain i suffer with. It is very severe.
Essential Oil Diva @ 10:48 pm
Pat,
There's no way I can know if Palo Santo can help any specific person. Palo Santo has been used for centuries in South America to help with healing wounds, sprains and other injuries. The sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes and other constituents in it tend to stimulate healing and balance in the body.
I love the oil myself. It really helps the herniated disks in back feel better and it smells wonderful!
The only way to know is to try it and see.

hello,
I noticed that someone asked whether the oil would be good for RSD. Would be interesting to know whether the lady with osteo fixed or improved by the oil actually had her RSD reversed as well?
Thanks.
Peter

Peter,
Since the osteoarthritis improved and spinal bone density tests show improvement, her RSD pain has almost gone.

How much p.s. oil should one apply? I have osteoporosis in my hips, legs, and feet. As well as lots of tendonitis in my one foot. I would love tips on how best to apply this. I dont want to put too much on!
Essential Oil Diva @ 3:41 pm
Heather,
It's hard to say how much to use, there is no prescribed amount. How much you use is an individual thing. It's always wise to start with less than more.
One thing you can do is to dilute the palo santo in grape seed oil, jojoba oil or almond oil. That way you won't have to worry about applying too much. Again, the amount of dilution is up to you. You could start with a 50/50 dilution rate and adjust according to how you and your joints feel.
Have you seen the Deep Relief roll-on? Deep Relief is a blend of peppermint, wintergreen, copaiba, helichrysum, Palo Santo, and other essential oils has been specially formulated to relieve muscle soreness and tension.
These oils have traditionally been used for their anti-inflammatory properties, and are ideal for natural relief of muscle soreness and tension relief. Deep Relief is one of my favorites.
Plus, the roll-on applicator makes it super-easy to apply the oil or carry in your purse or pocket. It's a conveneint option!

Thanks for the info! I was thinking of getting the deep relief in my next order. I know htey were out of it when i placed my last order. I also wanted to get the other one- pan away. I heard that was good for tendon issues.. ?
Essential Oil Diva @ 4:01 pm
Heather,
Pan Away is great for tendons. It reduces pain and inflammation, reduces swelling, increases circulation and accelerates healing. It works well paired with basil, lemongrass or RC.
Some people get better results from Pan Away, others from Palo Santo or Deep Relief. It's really very individual. I prefer Deep Relief myself. I think it just depends on your body.
If you get tendonitis often, you might consider Sulfurzyme an MSM supplement. MSM is a naturally occurring organic form of dietary sulfur needed by our bodies every day to maintain the structure of proteins, protect cells and cell membranes, replenish the connections between cells, and preserve the molecular framework of connective tissue.
Sulfurzyme combines MSM with natural wolfberries, containing minerals and coenzymes that support the assimilation and metabolism of sulfur. It's really wonderful and very beneficial to health in many ways.
